Innisfail Travel Guide

With the majestic Rocky Mountains visible to the west, and the busy Highway 2 right along its east perimeter, Innisfail is a hidden gem in central Alberta., Canada.

The name ‘Innisfail’ goes back to celtic origin, meaning “Isle of Destiny”. It was actually the Canadian Pacific Railway that gave Innisfail its name. Before that, wagon and cart drivers called the area ‘Poplar Grove’.

And, Innisfail is an isle of destiny to many. Currently home to approximately 7,690 residents and some 450 businesses, Innisfail has been experiencing a slow and steady rate of growth annually. Innisfail is appealing because of its small town feel with all the amenities, and its convenient and strategic central Alberta location. Innisfail is situated on the major north/south Highway 2 corridor, between Calgary and Edmonton.
