High River is a region of rich diversity - in landscapes, people and histories.
The town of High River is located in southwestern Alberta, Canada with a population of approximately 10,716. It is 37 kilometres south of the city of Calgary, at the junction of Alberta Highways 2 and 23. Although reasonably distant from Calgary, the town is nonetheless considered to be part of the Calgary Region.
The surrounding area of High River is golden farm and cattle land. Visitors will still see the grain elevators dotting the country side, and can learn about the agricultural prosperity that helped to build this community. You can also visit Frank Lake and, while enjoying the incredible flora & fauna of this wetland, learn about the project for that allows for the reclamation of water used at the High River Cargill Foods plant which, in turn, provides a home for thousands of birds.
In town, High River has many things to discover: Cobblestoned pathways wind through the scenic downtown core.
