The Canadian town of Morinville is a vibrant suburban community located just north of Edmonton, Alberta. It has been carefully developed on the foundations of its past. With a population of 6,775, Morinville views itself as a healthy business and residential community that offers an alternative lifestyle to the cities of St. Albert and Edmonton. The town is the centre of the Municipal District of Sturgeon and serves as the commercial centre for the surrounding district.
Morinville was settled by Father Morin, an Oblate missionary, who brought many French settlers in the late 1800s, followed by several German pioneers.
Many residents commute to Edmonton for work and entertainment, but enjoy the rich quality of life found in a small town setting with big city amenities only minutes away. Morinville offers high quality education, a wide range of recreational activities, a diversity of residential styles, a healthy retail business core and a solid industrial base. It also boasts excellent transportation links and good opportunities for business investment and expansion.
Our exhibits represent the foundation of the community, bilingual origins, and strong German component.
