The Morris & District Centenial Museum

"Life Along the Red River" illustrates the rich history of the Red River Valley.

(Museum)
From the importance of the river as a source of furs in the early 1800's, to the travel corridor for steamboats and ox-carts, leading up to more present day uses such as ice harvest and agriculture, the river has been and always will be the "lifeblood" to the people who live in the valley. The settlement of Scratching River, now known as Morris, was established in 1883 at the junction of the Red and Morris Rivers.
