The Dawson City Museum housed in the beautiful Old Territorial Administration Building, a National Historic Site; is one of the premier heritage attractions of the Klondike. The museum boasts the largest collection of artifacts in the territory which detail the social and mining history of Dawson and the Klondike including pre-history, The Trondëk H’wëchin, and the natural history. Four restored Klondike Mines Railway locomotives, including one of the oldest preserved examples of its kind in Canada are located in the museum’s train shelter.
Costumed interpreters engage visitors in their discovery of the Klondike through a variety of programs including demonstrations and re-enactments. In addition visitors may access a wide variety of research materials in the Klondike History Library and Archives. Early mining records as well as genealogical information and related materials are available for research. Collections of over 20,000 photographs are also available for research and purchase.
